Shoshone Falls

Photo

Okay it's a nice set of falls. And yes I know it is the summer season where the water level is lower. It's definitely worth a visit.

But to compare to Niagra? Uh uh.

Still Idaho has some spectacular sights (including these Falls).

The grounds around the falls would be a fantastic place to have a picnic. We are still full from breakfast so will press on ... next stop, Craters of the Moon National Park.

Stay tuned,

Day 2 Boise

Photo

Decent night last night. Campground was a little on the rough side. But tent neighbors were friendly. In my experience, the tent neighbors actually determine if the time in camp will be enjoyable, bearable, or just hell on earth.

In the morning we met a friend's daughter for breakfast. She and her husband now live in Boise. She took us to Goldy's a well known local eatery. Great place. Loved the sweet potato hash browns.

We're burning daylight so we head out ... Next stop Shoshone Falls.

Stay tuned,

Oregon did not want us to leave...

Photo

As some of my Oregon colleagues (I don't want to call them Oregonians just yet) will tell you, we've had quite the wet spring. Some of those doubters were even questioning whether summer would arrive at all. But all true Oregonians know summer doesn't officially start till July 5th.

Well as we made our way through Baker City area the surrounding blue sky and green rolling hills seemed to say "Stay, camp here. Forget that Grand Canyon. Stay with me."

Ah but that is another cornetto of a different color.

We will return. Today we are Boise bound.

A picture from last year's vacation

As we prepare for this year's roadtrip, I have been looking through
last year's pictures. There are many, many great pictures from the
places we visited last year. Here was a delightful find in Deadwood,
SD
. An old gas station turned into a truffle and ice cream shop.
Really neat.

The coolest part though was that black machine to the left of the
front door. Yes, you guessed it, a vending machine dispensing home
made truffles.

We will soon begin our 2010 journey and hope to find more surprises this summer.

Stay tuned.
